鈴木きか

鈴木きかは、陶芸を基盤に、土・糞・骨・乳・野草といった、身体と大地のあいだを往還する「リミナルマテリアル」を扱うアーティストである。リミナルとは、ラテン語の limen（敷居）に由来し、境界や中間領域、ある状態から別の状態へ移り変わる途中の不安定なあり方を指す。彼女にとって乳・糞・骨は、内と外、生と死、聖と穢れを分ける固定的な境界ではなく、それらを通過させ、接続し直す物質である。物質の焼成や編むという制作行為を通して、身体由来の素材を別の位相へと移し替えながら、現代において見えにくくなった、身体を通して世界と関わる感覚や時間を探っている。作品制作、ワークショップ、フィールドリサーチを横断しながら活動している。

Kika Suzuki

 Kika Suzuki is an artist whose practice is grounded in ceramics and engages with what she calls “liminal materials” such as soil, dung, bone, milk, and wild plants—materials that move back and forth between the body and the earth. The term liminal derives from the Latin limen (threshold), and refers to boundaries, intermediate zones, and unstable states of transition from one condition to another. For Suzuki, milk, dung, and bone are not fixed boundaries that separate inside and outside, life and death, or the sacred and the impure; rather, they are materials that allow these states to pass through one another and to be reconnected. Through processes such as firing and weaving, she transforms bodily materials into another phase of existence, exploring forms of perception and temporality through which the body relates to the world—sensibilities that have become increasingly difficult to perceive in contemporary life. Her practice spans art-making, workshops, and field research.
