Youkobo Art Space では、3月23日から3月30日までの期間、鈴木希果(日本)・劉心丹(中国)・Clinton Pang(香港)の東京芸術大学美術研究科GAP専攻の学生3人による展覧会「Time³-Returning, Sampling, Memorizing 」を開催致します。本展では、異なったバックグラウンドを持つ3人の視点から、Time(時間)という根源的なテーマについて解釈し、ドーローイング、インスタレーション、映像から土まで、様々なメディアを扱った新作を展示しております。

“Time³- Returning, Sampling, Memorizing” will start from 23rd to 30th of March  in Youkobo Art Space. Three participants, Kika Suzuki(Japan), Liu Xindan(China) and Clinton Pang(Hong Kong) are all from Global Art Practice, Graduate School of Fine Arts, Tokyo University of the Arts (GAP).

This exhibition will demonstrate various practices from drawings, installations, moving images and mediums like charcoal, daily objects and earth, presenting three different interpretations of the experience of time.

2021年12月13日〜19日の間、大分県別府市にてイラストレーターの川窪花野さんとの2人展を開催します！

東京・多摩地域の空き地や住宅のリサーチをもとに、交換日記の様に作品を交互に制作する事で「某ニュータウン」という架空の都市を創造しました。

本企画は、ベップ・アートマンスという市民芸術祭の一環で開催されます。

「某ニュータウン」

Concept 

 私達、川窪と鈴木は架空の町「某ニュータウン」を作り出します。

　私達は、橋本、八王子から多摩ニュータウン地域のリサーチを行い、土地や人々の生活に対し「循環の蓄積、それによる気配の残像」という価値観を見出しました。

　橋本には、1年前まで広大な空き地が広がっていましたが、多摩ニュータウンの拡張により、その広大な土地は大型マンションへと変貌しつつある現状でした。しかし、多摩地区には田端環状積石遺跡などの遺跡や絹の道という歴史を持ち、古い時間が保存され、昔の生活の気配と新しい生活の共存が成されていました。土地は、人々の生活の構築と消滅・破壊を途方も無い程繰り返しながらも、生命活動の痕跡をどこかに残し、私達はその蓄積を無意識にどこかで感じながら生活しています。そして、現在の団地群などの住居もまた、古い記憶となり消滅または、一部保存されながら新しい町が誕生するのでしょう。そして、現在コロナ禍となり、新しい町の形態の価値観は一変しつつあります。しかし、そんな真新しい町の中にも現在の生活様式を古い記憶として残す事に価値があると、未来の人へ向けて私達が生きていた証を残したいと願い、私達は循環と蓄積の中で保存を繰り返しています。

　今回の展示で私達は、このリサーチをインスピレーションにし、架空の町の縄文時代以前の過去からコロナ禍をすぎた未来までの“循環の蓄積”を一気に駆け上がり、「某ニュータウン」を創造します。人の生活をテーマにイラストレーターとして活動する川窪と、土を起点に空き地や土地の保存をテーマに作家活動する鈴木が、“架空の町”を何度も交換と上書き・保存を繰り返す事で、実際に“循環と蓄積”を体現します。そして、コロナ禍を終えた新しい世界観、生活形態の価値観をもー提示し、「某ニュータウン」は完成します。

　「某ニュータウン」を通し過去の気配、そして未来の土地形態を提示する事で、土地や、そこに息づく生活の価値観を改めて考え直す時間を提示する事になるでしょう。

2021年10月10日から初の個展を開催する運びとなりました。

2020年は、コロナ禍の混沌とした東京での生活と信楽での滞在制作、この2つの対照的な経験を通して、アーティストとして大きな転換期を迎えた様に思います。

展示会場であるoaは、元々は八百屋で現在はオルナティブ スペースとして活用されていますが、2021年11月末には取り壊しが予定されています。この様な場所で展示する事に、大きな意味を感じています。

いま転換期にある世の中、アーティストとして転換期にいる自分、そして取り壊しを予定されている会場、未来の新しさに向けて変わろうとする3つの”*Paradigm shift”が交差する展示となっております。

本展覧会を通して、Paradigm shiftを追体験し、

変化の間で自身の存在意義を再思考するきっかけとなれば幸いです。

*Paradigm shift:今までの当然だとされていた価値観や思想、物事が劇的に一変する事

Kika Suzuki Solo Exhibition “PARADIGM SHIFT” is going to start in oa from October 10th.

 In 2020, two contrasting experiences made a big difference for me as an artist, which are the COVID-19 pandemic and the Artist -In-Residence in Shigaraki.

　Meanwhile, the exhibition space “oa“ is also facing a huge difference, from once a greengrocer to an alternative space, and will later be demolished at the end of November 2021. 

　The transformation we are facing are connected by these three “*Paradigm shifts”: the rapid change of our world, me as an artist also changes with it, and the inevitable demolish of the space “oa”. Eventually, new things will be created within these processes of changes.

*Paradigm shift: A dramatic change in values, ideas, and things that have been taken for granted.

This exhibition is a group composed of 5 artists who study at the Master of Global Art Practice at Tokyo University of the Arts.

In this particular project, the meaning of “MA” (間) will be given as “The Experience of the Dynamics and the Stillness” that happens in the present. Within their own specific field, each artist reflects on their surroundings by comprehending the dynamics and stillness in their daily life. From their interpretations, it is clear to see how artists use their artistic approaches and practices to confront the tide and pent-up problems in their surroundings. They started their projects with the hope of bringing new perspectives to the audience by showcasing their result of reflection.

本展覧は東京藝術大学美術研究科グローバルアートプラクティス専攻の５名のアーティストで構成されています。 本企画では、「間」の意味合いを、今まさに起こっている「動と静の経験」として表現しています。 テーマである「動と静」や、日常における自身と周囲との関係について、アーティストそれぞれの文脈や多様な仕方で制作を行っています。世界での様々な潮流や鬱積する問題に対し、芸術実践の観点から向き合い、アプローチしくことが役割であると考えます。本展での作品がご覧いただくみなさまに、新しい視点をもたらすきっかけとなることを願います。
